Leaving Early Access

As of now, we have left Early Access. I was very busy making updates, and I just could not find the time to even post about it here. Chronological indexing I mentioned, sure, but there were bugs, bugs that were still in the game that I didn’t notice, typos, things that made me say “Oh no did I just upload that” but the player base is fairly small so hopefully, no one noticed.

On top of the Chrono mode update came the need to incorporate the Gigantomachy. I had heard bits and fragments of this tale, always meant to look into it more deeply. I was so excited when I started looking into it, but deeply disappointed when I found out that nothing remains but a few sculptures and a few paragraphs from Apollodorus and so on. Major poets and writers who had almost certainly explored the Gigantomachy in detail, have no surviving texts. What a let down. I took as much as I reasonably could from the story, making 8 Speed/Discovery and one Verbose question.

The Gorgon’s Head

Next, I wanted to reach a nice round number for my question totals and I already knew I wanted to address the myth of Perseus, a brilliantly coherent myth in which the symbol of the Gorgon’s head creates a story arc that defines right and wrong. It has to do with tyranny and most often specifically with women victims of SA and harassment. In case after case, Perseus metes out deadly justice, using divine artifacts. At the end he returns Medusa’s head to Athena and she places it on her shield, the aegis, an everlasting symbol of the defense of innocence. It sounds lofty and overly interpretive when laid out in just one paragraph, but when you see the whole thing (and I made a thread about it on X) it’s as solid an interpretation as they come. I really enjoyed writing it and mulling it over.

That’s All for Now

I’ll write more when I have time! Hope you enjoy Epimythos!
