This post is going to be a little different. I am thinking about what to do going forward. If I want to put Epimythos: The Forgotten Legends on mobile, I would target Android first. But before I do that, I would set up multi-language support. That would open Epimythos up to numberous potential markets, although localization efforts would be needed for each and every one. There are 400kb of words\/strings, bare minimum. Some metadata would stay in a single language.
From there I would port Epimythos over to Android, and succeeding there, I would be remiss if I did not also put it on iOS.
That would mark an end point for the Epimythos journey, which is already now approaching a full year.
However, I’m drawn to the prospect of putting out different kinds of games, perhaps with much more indie appeal, without all the pomp and grandeur of Steam (and without the fees). I have some ideas for a “Lemonade Stand” genre game, and of course when you have Unity, there are so many games you can make from the more popular genres. I’m not sure whether to keep working on Epimythos or just leave it as a portfolio piece and get cracking on the next one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another thought I had was to make a free educational version of the game and accept donations. Don’t get me wrong, the game is already educational, but the quiz format could be changed to allow<\/p>\n\n\n\n
These would come with some changes to the questions, perhaps elimination of interpretive questions, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I guess to some extent I’m just nervous about the upcoming release. Will it bomb? Will Epimythos end up being loved by a few, or many? Will Hellenic mythology start to return to the consciousness of the civilization from whence it came? Will there be critics? Will I come under personal attack? Or will it poof into the ether, just one of a billion other tidbits on the internet that are ignored and forgotten?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
